The World’s Best Beaches List in 2026 Features One Stunning US Destination
The 2026 edition of The World’s 50 Best Beaches was created by travel professionals, Beach Ambassadors, and judges who considered factors such as uniqueness, wildlife, calm water, crowd levels, untouched scenery, and the likelihood of a good beach day. The list is led by remote islands, protected coves, pale sandbars, and coastlines that reward the extra effort it takes to reach them. The surprise for American travelers is lower in the ranking but still matters. Siesta Beach in Florida placed at No. 28.

Entalula Beach took the No. 1 spot in 2026, and its appeal starts with geography. The beach, located in Palawan’s Bacuit Bay, combines limestone cliffs, soft white sand, calm water, and limited access by boat. Its isolation protects much of its character. The water is clear enough for unhurried swimming, while the cliffs provide a dramatic frame for the shoreline.

This beach is located on Kefalonia, inside a secluded cove bordered by pale limestone cliffs, with white pebbles and sand meeting the Ionian Sea’s turquoise water. Reaching it usually requires a boat or a steep hike, which helps limit casual crowds. It earned second place. People who make the trip are rewarded with a showcase of its clean geometry of cliff, water, and shore.
Wharton Beach, Australia

Western Australia’s Wharton Beach ranked third. The setting near Duke of Orleans Bay gives it wide views, clean white sand, and water that shifts through bright turquoise tones. It is also known for surfing and dolphin spotting. Wharton also stands apart because of its space, wind, and scale. It suits travelers who want beauty with a little edge.
Nosy Iranja, Madagascar

Nosy Iranja is built around one unforgettable feature: a long sandbar that links two small islands at low tide. As the water rises, the pale strip disappears. This alone gives it a sense of theater few beaches can match. The area also has a strong natural appeal beyond the sand. Clear water, snorkeling, lush vegetation, and sea turtles nesting along the shore make Nosy Iranja feel alive.
Mamanuca Beach, Fiji

Mamanuca Beach on Vomo Island gives Fiji a top-five finish with a more sheltered kind of luxury. Tall palms, soft white sand, dense vegetation, and calm swimming conditions define the shoreline. Its position on the protected side of the island helps keep the water approachable through much of the day.
The beach also benefits from limited development. Long stretches can feel private.
Shoal Bay East, Anguilla

Anguilla remains one of the Caribbean’s most reliable beach destinations. Shoal Bay East in particular has powdery white sand, clear water, palm trees, calm swimming, and nearby reefs for snorkeling. Travelers also get to enjoy beach bars, which add life to the place. Popularity usually changes a beach quickly, but Shoal Bay East still leaves room to spread out.
Dhigurah, Maldives

Dhigurah’s seventh-place ranking comes from length and shape. The beach stretches along a Maldivian island before narrowing into a sandbar that reaches into shallow, clear water. Walking toward the far end changes the whole mood. The village feels distant, the lagoon opens up, and the sand becomes the highlight. The surrounding reef adds another layer, especially for travelers interested in marine life. Dhigurah is also associated with whale shark encounters in the wider area.
Playa Balandra, Mexico

Playa Balandra in La Paz feels almost engineered for easy water time, though its best qualities come from protection. The bay is shallow, calm, and spread across several connected beach areas. In many places, visitors can wade far from shore without the water rising above chest height. Strict regulations help preserve the setting by limiting development, visitor numbers, and disruptive activity. The famous mushroom-shaped rock, known as El Hongo, gives the beach a recognizable landmark.
Koh Rong, Cambodia

Koh Rong brings Cambodia into the top 10 at number nine, with its scale and quiet. Its long beach runs for kilometers, with pale sand, shallow water, and sections bordered by tropical greenery. Reached by boat from the mainland, it still carries a slower rhythm than many Southeast Asian beach hubs. The coastline has development, but large parts remain relatively light and low-key. This gives travelers room to choose their pace.
Siesta Beach, USA

Siesta Beach in Florida ranked No. 28 worldwide, the standout continental U.S. entry on the 2026 list. Its signature feature is the extremely fine, bright white sand, which is largely quartz. The texture gives the beach its famous powdery feel and helps it stay cooler under the Florida sun. The water adds to the appeal. A gentle slope and shallow, calm conditions make Siesta Beach especially friendly for swimming, wading, and family visits. It may not have the remoteness of the list’s island leaders, but it proves that a world-class beach can still be easy to reach.
