You must fly into San Andres and then choose whether you want to stay there and enjoy its more modern vibe or take a ferry or a small plane to Providencia.

In our opinion, you should spend a day in San Andres, then head on to Providencia without hesitating. With a single road around the island that you can complete in 40 minutes, this tiny place is truly paradisical. Your days will be spent at the beach or deep in the sea. There are no luxury hotels or chains, and that's exactly what we love about it.

While it's difficult not to choose one of the places that wink to the archipelago's pirate history, for the best thing to do, we have to go with climbing the Peak in Providencia.

The island is really a single mountain whose peak produces perfectly at the center. A short hike to the summit will give you a 360-degree view of the island as well as the astonishing Sea of Seven Colors. On the way, you'll encounter gorgeous tropical vegetation and unique animals, like the blue iguana.

Descend 120 feet below the Earth’s surface to the Crystal and Fantasy caves. You'll see large selenite gypsum crystals hanging from the ceiling of the cave or sprouting from the ground.
