Why Fort Lauderdale Is an Underrated City for a Girls' Trip
Nothing says "girls' trip" like a little bit of beach, sun and parties. For your next group getaway, head to Fort Lauderdale.
Miami has eclipsed its neighbor for decades, but Fort Lauderdale is beginning to shine brightly enough to compete for attention. You'll find many of the same things: incredible restaurants showcasing dishes from virtually everywhere in the world, high-end shopping, chic cocktail lounges and sandy beaches.
But we chose Fort Lauderdale over Miami for two important reasons. One, there aren't as many crowds. And two, the beach is actually nicer, according to our Miami-based staff writer.
You and the squad will never run out of things to do. Whether you're being pampered at the spa, going on a private boat trip or working on your tan, it'll be a trip to remember.

Getting To and Around Fort Lauderdale
Another reason to choose Fort Lauderdale over Miami is that flights to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport are usually cheaper. (Though we won't lie, the airport is not great.)
After landing, we highly encourage you to rent a car. While you'll be in the epicenter of all the action at any of the hotels mentioned above, moving around without a car will be difficult, especially if you want to see other parts of the city.
Beachy Girls Trip Alternative: Maui, Hawaii
If your squad wants to make this getaway extra special, splurge for a group vacation to gorgeous Maui. Known as the Valley Isle, Maui is much more rugged than the Big Island or Oahu. This translates into incredible experiences like completing the road to Hana, whale watching and hiking.
