Forget the Beach and Head to Nebraska’s Newest Indoor Water Park in 2027
Family trips often start with high expectations, then real life gets in the way. Weather changes, kids get restless, pools get crowded, and the day slowly turns into managing small problems instead of actually relaxing.
That is the idea behind Bellevue Bay, an indoor water park planned for Bellevue, Nebraska. Instead of depending on good weather or a perfect season, it is designed to work all year, so families can just show up and enjoy the experience.
Bellevue, which sits right next to Omaha, aims to become a stronger family destination by 2027. The project includes water slides, pools, and an indoor resort setup built for easy, low-stress trips. For parents looking for something simple that still feels like a getaway, that is really the main draw.
Nebraska Is Going Bigger Than Expected
Bellevue Bay is shaping up to be much bigger than people probably expect from an indoor water park in Nebraska. The project is part of the Bellevue Good Life District, a massive 575-acre development near Highways 75 and 34, being built around hotels, restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. The water park is only one piece of a much larger destination.
That matters because it changes the kind of trip families can have there. Instead of spending a few hours at a pool and heading home, visitors could turn it into a full weekend getaway. Project plans describe Bellevue Bay as the largest indoor water park planned in Nebraska.
Some reports measure only the indoor section, while others include outdoor areas as well. The overall development is expected to cover around 140,000 square feet, including roughly 60,000 square feet inside the glass-enclosed park.
The Roof Is The Real Trick

The retractable roof may be the smartest part of the plan. Summer can still bring that open-air water-park feeling, but cold weather does not cancel the fun. In a state where winter can make outdoor plans disappear fast, that feature makes year-round visits more practical.
Families may have fewer weather concerns than they would at an outdoor park. Indoor attractions reduce the impact of rain or colder temperatures. A chilly morning does not send everyone back to the hotel. The park is designed to operate year-round, giving it a major edge over traditional beach trips and outdoor water parks.
The planned attractions cover the usual family checklist and then some. Bellevue Bay is expected to include water slides, a lazy river, a wave pool, a surf simulator, splash areas, cabanas, an arcade, party rooms, and a swim-up bar. Design materials also mention family activity pools, rock-climbing features, and adult-focused spaces.
Mattel Branding Adds Familiar Themes
Bellevue Bay also has a branding hook that most water parks would love to have. Bellevue officials approved a partnership that brings Mattel’s names into the project, with brands like Barbie, Hot Wheels, and Fisher-Price tied to the experience.
Local officials have promoted Bellevue Bay as one of the first Mattel-branded water park projects in the country. The partnership gives the project recognizable branding before launch. It helps Bellevue Bay stand out in a crowded family-travel market. A Nebraska indoor water park with major toy-brand theming feels more memorable.
A Beach Alternative With Less Chaos

Bellevue Bay’s biggest selling point may be convenience. Connected hotels, climate-controlled walkways, nearby dining, retail, and entertainment could turn the park into a low-stress weekend base. Visitors may avoid some of the weather and logistics issues that come with beach vacations.
By 2027, Nebraska could have the kind of family attraction that sounds unexpected at first, then starts making perfect sense. Families looking for indoor resort-style attractions may eventually add Bellevue Bay to their travel plans.
