Murfreesboro is the nearest town to Crater of Diamonds State Park. While you won't see any large hotel chains in this tiny town, you'll find locally owned inns that'll make you feel like you're part of the community.

At Diamonds Old West, you'll get a historical cabin feel with a teepee and a children's playground. Little Shamrock Motel offers a no-frills stay only five minutes by car from Crater of Diamonds. And Samantha's Timber Inn has large bathtubs perfect for soaking in after a long day of diamond hunting.

With only about 1,450 residents, Murfreesboro isn't near any major airports. Your best bet if you're coming out of state is to fly into Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock.

Then, rent a car and drive for two hours south to Murfreesboro. If you're not short on time, stop by the city of Hot Springs and indulge in the relaxing Hot Springs National Park.
