The 2026 Best Beaches List Just Dropped, Featuring One Major US Destination
The 2026 World’s 50 Best Beaches ranking has arrived, and one mainland United States destination managed to appear beside coastlines in the Philippines, Greece, Madagascar, Fiji, Thailand, and Mexico. Entalula Beach in Palawan took the top spot, while Siesta Beach in Florida ranked No. 28 on the global list. This lineup does not read like a standard resort brochure. Some beaches made the cut because of unusual geography, like sandbars that vanish with the tide or limestone coves reached by boat. Others stand out through geology, wildlife, national park protections, surf conditions, historic landmarks, or unusually strong public access.

Entalula Beach took the top spot on the 2026 World’s 50 Best Beaches list, and much of the experience comes from the journey through Bacuit Bay. Visitors usually arrive by boat from El Nido, passing the dramatic limestone cliffs that made this part of Palawan famous. The beach itself is small, with white sand, palm trees, and steep rock formations rising behind it. Since the shoreline is located between towering cliffs, arriving there is more like entering a hidden cove than stepping onto a typical resort beach. Most visitors stop there during island-hopping tours, spend some time swimming or relaxing, then continue exploring other parts of the bay.
Fteri Beach

Fteri Beach’s appeal starts with the physical challenge of getting there. The Kefalonia cove is reached mainly by boat or by a steep hiking trail, so it takes some planning and commitment. White cliffs frame the beach. It has a mix of white pebbles and sand meeting the Ionian Sea. The pebble base helps the water look especially clear near shore because there is less loose sand clouding the shallows.
Wharton Beach

Located in Duke of Orleans Bay near Esperance, Western Australia, this beach is known for its very fine sand, which can squeak underfoot, and its Southern Ocean setting shaped by surf, wind, and cooler water. This is not the same type of beach experience as a sheltered tropical lagoon. People come for swimming, surfing, fishing, long walks, and camping at Orleans Bay Caravan Park nearby. Its ranking also makes sense within the broader Esperance region.
Nosy Iranja

Nosy Iranja is made up of two small islands off the northwestern coast of Madagascar, connected by a white sandbar that appears and disappears with the tide. At low tide, visitors can walk across the strip between Nosy Iranja Be and Nosy Iranja Kely. As the tide rises, water covers the sandbar again, changing the entire shape of the place within the same day. The area is also ecologically important because sea turtles nest along the shores.
East Beach, Vomo Island

East Beach on Vomo Island gives a private-island vibe. The beach is located on the sheltered side of Vomo Island in Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands. This gives it calmer swimming conditions during much of the day. Access is closely tied to Vomo Island Resort, which is listed as the only hotel with access to East Beach.
Shoal Bay East

The strongest feature of Shoal Bay East is its varied offerings. The Anguilla shoreline has calm, sandy-bottomed water. Entry is easy for swimmers, and nearby coral reefs attract snorkelers. Beach bars and restaurants line parts of the coast, so visitors can spend the day moving between the water, food, and shaded seating without leaving the beach area. It has infrastructure, but it still keeps the low-rise Caribbean feature Anguilla is known for.
Playa Balandra

Playa Balandra is a protected desert coast near La Paz in Baja California Sur. Visitor access is managed more carefully than at a typical resort beach. Its shallow bay is the feature people remember first. In many sections, visitors can walk far from shore. The bay feels more like a natural wading lagoon than an open surf beach. Balandra also has one of Baja California Sur’s most recognizable coastal landmarks: El Hongo, the mushroom-shaped rock formation often used in photos of the area.0
Donald Duck Bay

Thailand’s Similan Islands have a beach called Donald Duck Bay. It ranked No. 10 on the global best beaches list, with many tours identifying it on Island No. 8. Its nickname comes from a rock formation near the bay that people associate with Donald Duck. The more practical draw is the Sail Rock viewpoint above the beach. Visitors can swim and snorkel in the bay, then climb to the viewpoint for a wide look over the Andaman Sea and the surrounding granite boulders.
Siesta Beach

Siesta Beach’s claim is the famous for powdery white sand made largely of quartz, commonly described as 99% quartz. This helps it remain cooler under direct sun than darker mineral sand. The beach also has public facilities, volleyball areas, playgrounds, and a wide walking space.
Flamenco Beach

At No. 41 was Flamenco Beach, located on Culebra in Puerto Rico. The beach is known for a curved bay, clear shallow water, snorkeling, food kiosks, shower facilities, and camping access. It stands out for the old U.S. military tanks left behind after the Navy’s years on Culebra, later covered in graffiti. You need a ferry or a short flight from mainland Puerto Rico to reach here.
