For those who want to get away from the cold, the Dominican Republic is a no-brainer. Yes, it’s a bit unfair to include an entire country, but we can’t pick only one place in this destination.

The magic of the island is that it has any experience you want. From culinary tours to ATV adventures to luxurious all-inclusive resorts, the DR has it all.

Though if we did have to choose, we’d go for Santo Domingo, the surprisingly amazing capital.

3. La Fortuna, Costa Rica

If half the friend group wants adventure and half wants a spa getaway, go to La Fortuna. This popular Costa Rican escape is known for Arenal Volcano, which provides plenty of outdoor activities while creating numerous relaxing natural hot springs.

You can hike along the base of the volcano, take a cold dip in the imposing La Fortuna waterfall, and go rafting and rappelling. Then, spend all afternoon soaking in a hot spring and indulging in spa treatments.
