What exactly is a UNESCO World Heritage Site? Technically, they’re places that have cultural, historical or scientific significance and are protected by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
There are 1,154 World Heritage Sites as of July 2021, but these places don’t really need the designation for one to understand their beauty. In fact, photographers all over the world capture these sites in a variety of unique ways that remind us what makes them so special. Out of 145 of the most popular World Heritage Sites, these 30 have been tagged the most on Instagram, earning them the title of “most photogenic.”
