There was a time when forgetting your passport or boarding pass at home meant serious trouble. You would have had to rush back to retrieve the document or miss your flight entirely. And even if you did bring it with you, you would have to suffer through repeated document checks at nearly every checkpoint before reaching the aircraft.
Fortunately, aviation technology teams have now begun implementing biometric systems that verify identity through facial scanning. Cameras now compare live images with stored travel records and automatically confirm identity. Airlines and airport authorities introduced these programs to simplify verification and reduce congestion inside busy terminals.

A kiosk captures the passenger’s facial image and pairs it with passport details and flight information.
