5 Best-Rated US Costco Locations Worth a Road Trip
Costco has a way of turning a simple shopping trip into something much longer. People walk in for paper towels or groceries, grab a few samples, spot a deal they did not expect, and suddenly spend far more time there than planned. Most locations deliver that experience, but a few stand out enough that shoppers genuinely think they are worth the drive.
A FinanceBuzz survey asked more than 6,000 Costco shoppers to rate local warehouses across six categories: cleanliness, friendliness, stock, sample quality, sample quantity, and parking. Stores could earn up to 60 points, and only locations with more than 10 responses qualified for the final rankings.
Meridian, Idaho

The Costco in Meridian earned one of the highest scores in the country, finishing with 55.2 out of 60 in the FinanceBuzz survey. Shoppers rated it especially well for cleanliness, stock, samples, and friendly service. Parking was the only category that dipped below a 9, though it still scored a solid 8 out of 10.
Since Meridian sits close to Boise, stopping here can easily fit into a larger Idaho trip instead of feeling like a random shopping detour. What people seem to love most is how reliable the overall experience feels. The store stays clean, shelves stay stocked, samples are generous, and the atmosphere feels organized without becoming stressful.
Indianapolis, Indiana, Fortune Park

The Fortune Park Costco in Indianapolis earned one of the highest scores in the survey at 55.2 out of 60. Shoppers rated the Michigan Road warehouse especially well for cleanliness and stock (9.7), friendliness (9.3), and sample quantity (9.1). Sample quality came in at 8.9, while parking earned an 8.5.
Indianapolis already gives visitors plenty to do, from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum to the Children’s Museum, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and the zoo. That makes this Costco feel less like the main destination and more like a useful stop between attractions. For families, especially, grabbing a food court lunch here can feel a lot easier on the budget than squeezing in another restaurant meal.
Springfield, Missouri
Springfield ranked third nationally with a 55.1 out of 60 score. It was also the final Costco in the survey to pass the 55-point mark. Shoppers gave the warehouse especially high ratings for staff friendliness, where it earned an impressive 9.7 out of 10.
Long road trips and crowded stores can test anyone’s patience. This Costco seems to make the experience easier. Shoppers consistently praised the atmosphere and customer service, which helps a routine stop feel less draining. Visitors also have nearby attractions like Fantastic Caverns and the Springfield Botanic Gardens if they want something beyond shopping.
Kalamazoo, Michigan

Kalamazoo landed fourth with a 54.9 out of 60 score. Shoppers rated the store highly for cleanliness (9.5), stock (9.4), and friendliness (9.3).
This is the Costco for travelers who hate the “they’re out of it” moment. A strong stock score matters because the fun of Costco depends on the hunt paying off. Kalamazoo also helps the road-trip case because the city has college-town energy, local restaurants, shops, and a brewery scene.
Tulsa, Oklahoma, North Tulsa
Tulsa’s North Tulsa Costco finished fifth with a 54.7 out of 60 score. The store earned a 9.6 for cleanliness, one of the strongest marks in the survey, and a 9.2 for parking, the third-highest parking score among ranked locations. Only five stores in the country reached 9 or higher for parking.
For a road trip, easy parking changes the whole rhythm. Tulsa’s store gives travelers the clean-store comfort shoppers expect, plus a rare parking advantage. This combination makes it a smart final pick because it solves one of Costco’s most famous little headaches before anyone even grabs a cart.
