Air Canada Will Serve Free Beer and Wine in Economy on All Flights
Free drinks in the economy cabin are not common in North America. Air Canada, though, has chosen to make them standard on all flights. Beer and wine now come at no charge for every economy passenger. The update rolled out in September and quickly became one of the most talked-about service changes in regional aviation.

Air Canada explained that food and beverage offerings have a strong influence on traveler satisfaction. That insight shaped the decision to expand drink service rather than adjust fees elsewhere.
Baggage charges help cover handling costs, so removing them would create financial strain. Complimentary alcohol, by comparison, offered a practical way to improve the experience without restructuring the fare system.
The shift also supports Air Canada’s position on connecting routes. Many passengers traveling between the United States and international destinations transfer through Canadian airports. Providing a perk that no other North American legacy carrier currently matches adds an advantage on those journeys.
What Economy Passengers Receive
Beer, wine, and Heineken 0.0 are included at no cost. The addition of a non alcoholic beer option makes Air Canada the first airline in the region to offer it for free in economy.
The snack lineup expanded as well. Morning flights include soft-baked oat bars along with pretzels and cookies produced by Canadian companies. Midday and evening departures introduce hummus with crackers, more pretzel varieties, and well-known packaged treats.
Travelers flying out of Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport after midmorning receive a ginger wellness shot provided by a Canadian brand. Beyond the complimentary items, the Bistro menu gained additional choices that rotate throughout the year. The mix focuses on familiar Canadian products that are easy to enjoy in-flight.
Other Updates Across The Cabin

The complimentary drink program arrived alongside several improvements Air Canada made throughout 2025. The airline refreshed its lounges, expanded its entertainment features, and released a redesigned mobile app. Aeroplan members also gained access to fast WiFi on eligible North American and sun destination routes.
These adjustments followed a period of operational challenges, including labor disruptions and a revised financial outlook. Enhancing the travel experience became a clear priority as the airline worked to strengthen demand and maintain a competitive edge.
Economy passengers across North America have raised concerns about extra charges for luggage and seat selection. Lawmakers in Canada and the United States commented on the growing number of fees tied to basic comfort. Air Canada did not remove those costs but chose to widen what passengers receive at these new costs.
For anyone comparing options on upcoming routes, the perk is now a key factor in the equation.
